Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher's recent stretch of trades and maneuvering received another layer Friday.

The Wild announced that they have traded wing Devin Setoguchi to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a second round pick in the 2014 NHL draft.

The move comes at juncture where the Wild are trying to free up salary cap space. Setoguchi was entering the final year of his contract. By shipping him to Winnipeg, the Wild have cleared $3 million in cap space.

"The market on Devin heated up in the afternoon, and it was markedly different than where we week a week ago, even this morning," Fletcher said during a conference call following the trade.

Setoguchi, who was traded to the Wild from San Jose in 2011, played in 117 games with Minnesota. He accounted for 13 goals and 14 assists in 48 games last season.
