The Minnesota Wild decided Nick Palmieri needs some more work in the minors.

After acquiring the right winger last month from New Jersey in the trade that sent defenseman Marek Zidlicky to the Devils, the Wild announced Sunday that Palmieri had been assigned to Houston of the American Hockey League.

Palmieri, 22, had no points and 13 shots in nine games with the Wild. He was a minus-3 in the plug-minus category.

Palmieri had seven points, including four goals, in 29 games with New Jersey this season and 11 points, including five goals, in 26 games with Albany of the AHL.

Palmieri was a third-round pick of the Devils in the 2007 draft.
