The Wild made a minor league trade Wednesday that sent defenseman Brian Connelly to Chicago in exchange for forward Brad Winchester. The Wild announced the move Wednesday, one day before it will return to game action post-Olympic break.

Winchester has played 55 this season for the Blackhawks' American Hockey League affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs. He notched 16 goals and 14 assists.

Winchester, 32, is from Madison, Wis., and has spent parts of seven seasons with Edmonton, Dallas, St. Louis, Anaheim and San Jose. Edmonton originally drafted Winchester in the second round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

As for the player they gave up, Connelly led the Iowa Wild (AHL) in scoring this season. He had five goals and 27 assists in 50 games. Connelly, 27, is from Bloomington, Minn., and was signed as a free agent in July 2012.
