Nate Prosser's altercation with Jamal Mayers proved to be a costly one.

The NHL suspended Prosser for one game without pay on Friday for head-butting Mayers in the first period of the Minnesota Wild's win over the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday.

Prosser, who was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct, will forfeit $3,864.86, based on his annual salary. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The Wild's season finale against Phoenix on Saturday night.
