MINNEAPOLIS -- Denard Span was penciled back into the lineup as leadoff man and center fielder on Wednesday night for the first time since Aug. 27.
Span injured his collarbone while diving for a ball on Aug. 12, sat out 10 days, then landed on the disabled list on Aug. 28 after trying unsuccessfully to play through discomfort for four games.
In 488 plate appearances this season, Span is hitting .286/.349/.393 with 32 doubles and 14 stolen bases.
