Minnesota Timberwolves forward Dante Cunningham was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of domestic assault, according to a report by the Star Tribune.

After being arrested by police in Medina, he is now being held in the Hennepin County jail without bail pending charges.

The Timberwolves released the following statement:

"We are aware of the matter involving Dante Cunningham and are in the process of gathering more information. Dante will not be traveling with the team to Miami this afternoon. The Minnesota Timberwolves organization takes the matter very seriously and does not condone the type of behavior that is associated with this situation. However, we need to let the legal process run its course, and will have further comment at the appropriate time."

The arrest came several hours after Cunningham, 26, and the Wolves defeated the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night at the Target Center.

Cunningham, a five-year NBA pro, is currently in his second season with the Wolves. Last June, Minnesota picked up Cunningham's one-year, $2.2 million contract option to bring him back for this season. He will become an unrestricted free agent in July

The Wolves are scheduled to leave Thursday afternoon to start two-game road trip in Miami. Cunningham will not be traveling with the team.
