EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - It didn't take long for Chris Cook to Tweet again about his situation with the Minnesota Vikings.
First-year coach Mike Zimmer, in a local meeting with beat writers, was asked about a series of Tweets Cook sent out after the pair had talked, presumably, about his contract situation. Cook, 27, is a pending free agent when the new league year starts March 11. We wrote about the initial Tweets here.
"My impression is that he probably shouldn't be tweeting about our conversations," Zimmer said. "He's a guy that...I'm trying to figure out how to say this without saying what I told him - he's a guy that has some ability that I've had some luck in the past with, getting guys to play good that have ability. So if he comes back here then I'm going to coach him as hard as I can and see if I can get him to play good."
Zimmer was a little more guarded with his words than Cook, who responded after Zimmer's quotes surfaced on Twitter moments later.
So I guess I can't say that I had a conversation with a coach now.. Ok— Chris Cook (@Cook_Isle) March 6, 2014
