MINNEAPOLIS -- Jason Kubel has been designated for assignment by the Twins. The outfielder/DH struggled since early April.

A press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m., at which the Twins are expected to introduce Kendrys Morales.

Kubel's DFA clears space on the 40-man roster for Morales.

Since Morales is out of minor league options, he cannot be sent to the minors to get plate appearances. Since he is not hurt, he cannot be sent on a rehab assignment.

That means he'll slowly be worked in to the lineup while at the Majors. He's not in the lineup Sunday, but he'll be in uniform on the bench.
