Bear Hunt Numbers Down, and the DNR is OK with it

Bear season began September 1st, and it is already off to a good start – even though numbers are down.  While the numbers are strong, the DNR estimates harvest is down about 25%, and they are happy with that. Biologists are trying to rebuild the population, and lower numbers will help them do that. Bear hunting season runs through October 15th.
