Report: Indians assistant GM a ‘finalist’ for Twins president job

Some of the top first-guess names passed on the chance to run the Twins, but that doesn’t mean they won’t end up with a strong candidate.

The assistant GM of the Indians, Derek Falvey, is a finalist for the Twins’ president of baseball operations job, according to Yahoo’s Jeff Passan.

Falvey has been with the Indians for nine years, and was promoted to AGM when Chris Antonetti became president after the 2015 season. Mike Chernoff was named the Indians GM at the time.

In theory, whoever is hired to the brand new position of president should be allowed to hire a general manager and fill out a front office.

The Twins had said at the beginning of the search that they’d like  to complete their search by the end of the regular season, but softened that later by saying that the end of October might be a suitable timeline as well.
