Twins on the list of at least a dozen teams to scout Tim Lincecum’s comeback audition

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Twins will be in attendance when Tim Lincecum showcases his skills for scouts in an attempt to rejuvenate his career. Minnesota is among at least a dozen teams on the list to watch the 2-time Cy Young winner.

On one hand, I’m intrigued. Lincecum is a big name!

On the other hand, it’s been an awfully long time since he was that dominant pitcher with a big fastball and a funky delivery in San Francisco.

He won his Cy Youngs in 2008 and 2009; he was dominant all the way through 2011, reigning as one of the best pitches in the game; and then it mysteriously went away. Since that year, he hasn’t posted an ERA better than 4.00, and his ERA+ of 72 in that time frame seems to suggest a broken pitcher.

Still, Lincecum is just 33 years old and he’s apparently gotten with some new trainers and, well, we’ll see.

Here’s a photo…

The other teams that will be there, per various reports, are the Giants (duh), the Tigers, Dodgers, Yankees, Orioles, Phillies, Red Sox, Brewers, Padres, Rangers and Braves.
