VENT LINE: More positives than negatives in Vikings’ win over Titans (Week 1, 2016)

It wasn’t pretty at first, but the Minnesota Vikings hit the gas pedal in the second half of their Week 1 road victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Mike Morris and Phil Mackey took your phone calls about Shaun Hill’s performance, Blair Walsh’s missed kicks, Adrian Peterson’s dismal day, a blossoming star in STefon Diggs, a ravenous defense, and much more!

No offensive touchdowns again is a problem. Two of Hills passes hit defenders in the hands but were dropped. Hills longest pass was thirty five yards to number 14 but was short so receiver had to slow and wrestle it away from the defender. But the biggest problem is other teams know Hill can not throw long so they can load the box with nine and ten. Funny how Mike Wallace had a big receiving day now that he has a QB who can actually throw down field.

  • Bradford can’t do any worse than Hill at this point, even with limited knowledge of the playbook. Put him in vs. Green Bay.
Walsh? Too many excuses in his career. Too many repeated mistakes. Coming out of college they worked to “slow down his approach.” That shouldn’t be an issue with a professional athlete.
Rhodes was sorely missed out there, though Waynes played admirably. Our secondary by and large got torched. Great job by the front line to blow things up.
