The Wild got a big victory on Tuesday night in St. Louis but it came at a substantial price.

Defenseman Jonas Brodin suffered a broken left hand during the second period of the Wild’s 6-2 victory and will be out three to four weeks. He underwent surgery on Wednesday. Brodin, who leads the Wild with a plus-19, was injured in the second period.

It’s expected thatĀ Gustav Olofsson will replace Brodin as Matt Dumba’s partner on the blue line. Dumba leads Wild defensemen with 10 goals this season.

Either Olofsson or Mike Reilly has been a healthy scratch for much of the season, but both are going to get an opportunity to play on a regular basis until Brodin returns.

The Wild will begin a five-game homestand on Thursday when they play Arizona.
